Client Testimonial -(November 2016)
“When i met Matthew in 2012/13, i cannot remember the exact date, i was suffering from severe clinical depression as a result of my circumstances following the accident. i had spent six months in various hospitals due to the seriousness of my injuries and the future did not look promising
i had limited mobility and was still coming to terms with the severity of my brain injuries.
i had no income and was supported emotionally and financially entirely by my parents which had put huge strain on them although they never allowed me to see it.
My previous legal representative had held out little hope of the successful outcome of any proceedings to the point where they were refusing to underwrite the insurance needed to proceed any further, it looked like i was set for a very bleak and isolated future, the general consensus was that it was unlikely i would ever walk unaided and certainly never return to work in any capacity.
After meeting with Matthew and having him asses my case things rapidly started to change. He arranged for me to be visited by Rhiannon Stokes, a case manager who took in my situation and very rapidly implemented a team to help and take care of my needs in a difficult and critical time of rehabilitation. I was finding it very hard to engage on a any level, i was uncommunicative and unresponsive to help. Together with Matthew they secured funding and built a team around my needs at that time and created a support base to encourage and assist in my rehabilitation.
Together we made progress in addressing my orthopaedic and neurological issues which included the appropriate specialist help in these areas and ensuring that i had the correct level of care and encouragement during these extremely difficult times to move forward.
Matthew leased with my family and my care team to make sure i was receiving the best possible assistance regardless of expense. Regular professional assessment by some of the leading consultants in the country were organised and funding provided. I received the best care money can provide to help me understand the true extent of my injuries and also understand what could be done to ensure i had the best quality of life possible. This enabled me to move forward at a time when i could not see a future for myself and my mood was very dark.
I have now undergone all of the orthopaedic operations that were possible to regain the best degree of mobility we can. They have been hugely successful and the results are more than even the most optimistic surgeon had anticipated. I am walking unaided and in considerably less pain than before. The help and support i received and continue to receive from my support team has given me the confidence to, after a couple of very shaky attempts, return to work albeit in a much less responsible position than i had previously occupied however much more in line with my capabilities. a major milestone for me considering that not so long ago this was considered at best an extremely marginal possibility.
After a long and difficult legal journey which at times seemed less than promising of a successful outcome, but despite the setbacks Matthew was always positive and encouraging, we have finally received settlement. This means i now focus on adding purpose and meaning to my life, and whilst there is still a long way to go, i now have a reason to get out of bed in the mornings and a structure of measured support around me to help when things get difficult.
I would not hesitate to recommend Matthew to anyone experiencing similar circumstances. his was so much more than just a legal intervention. Thanks to his hard work and competence i can now look forward to enjoying a quality of life myself and my family would previously not have believed achievable.
Sincerely and gratefully,
Chris Simmons ……”

Client Testimonial – (November 2016 )
” I suffered a near fatal industrial injury over 4 years ago,it left me with life changing disabilities and as a result I cannot work again.
Matthew Clayton was somebody who came highly recommended as a Solicitor who specialises in ” closed skull neuro toxic insults “.
He visited me at home and very quickly outlined his proposal to allocate a taylor made multi disciplinary team who would strive to assist my rehabilitation whilst he pursued a personal claim on my behalf.
Throughout the duration, Matthew offered continued assurance and confidence every step of the way. He was always on hand to answer any questions and kept me updated throughout the whole process.
Matthew brought the procedure to a successful conclusion early 2016, he fought long and hard and was professional and steadfast to the end.
I couldn’t have picked a better legal representative. “
Nigel Verdon November 2016
Nigel recovered a seven figure sum as a result of his negligent exposure to methyl iodide whilst working in the chemical industry please see his story in the case study section.

Commendation for Matthew Clayton
“I have known and worked with Matthew for more than 15 years. I can say, without hesitation, that there are few individuals who come close to having Matthew’s understanding of how brain injuries affect individuals and how to get the most out of every case. He is remarkably determined and adept at finding a way through the most difficult problems. The examples of this that I know of are many. He has trawled through CCTV footage from all available cameras on a busy Twickenham street to prove that the eye witnesses have wrongly reported the facts of an accident when a bus had hit a pedestrian. In another case he went twice to Latvia to ensure that his Claimant, a Latvian national injured whilst working in the UK, had a properly sourced care package and the right team and site for the construction of accessible single storey accommodation.
Matthew develops a good rapport with clients who quickly feel confident in his handling of difficult issues and well supported in what can be bruising litigation. The thing that his clients will recognise is that he doesn’t buckle under pressure no matter how difficult or implacable his opponent is. From my own experience, he has faced down intense pressure from the Ministry of Defence right through to the most hostile defence teams. His approach follows a simple mantra. He wants the best for his clients and he will go as far as required to get it.”

Dr Bruce Scheepers
“I have been instructed as a Neuropsychiatry expert witness by Matthew in many personal injury cases for about twenty years. I have watched the personal injury legal landscape evolve to what it is today – achieving reasonable settlements for people whose lives have been devastated and enabling them to have a new start. The settlement has not fixed them or restored their lives to their former position, but with their settlements they have been enabled to re-establish a future with purpose and quality despite the devastation they suffered and their ongoing complex impairments. In many cases lawyers like Matthew have had to challenge legal perceptions to alter legal misconceptions and traditional prejudice especially in relation to complex behavioural and emotional changes caused by brain injury. Matthew has remarkable insight and understanding of these complex issues demonstrating tenacity and commitment to take up and to persevere with the challenge on behalf of clients that sometimes others might regard as a ‘lost cause’..’
Dr Scheepers is a vastly experienced and well respected Consultant Neuropsychiatrist and is the lead expert instructed in this discliplne on numerous of Matthew’s cases and gave evidence in the High Court on the cases set out in the case studies section of Pinkerton and Tinsley.
